Let it snow

Here in the Midwest, (southern Indiana) it has snowed all day today.  We went out for breakfast and then did a little shopping and headed home.  As the day went on, I hear the roads became slick.  I stayed home today, cleaning the house and preparing for Christmas. I love to see the snow through the windows when I'm safe and snug inside the house.  I thought I would walk about the house and take some photos to show you our snowy view.

On a day like today, I had to make chili.  As we often do when we travel, or on weekends,  we had a big breakfast and then had an early dinner.

Any recipe I make, I tweak.  I started with a pound of ground beef and a pound of Italian sausage.  I browned the meat on low heat and drained the grease.  I added a large can of tomato juice, a large can of Brook's Chili mix, a small can of hot chili beans, and two cans of spicy diced tomatoes.  Then I added a teaspoon of Paprika, 1 teaspoon of Oregano, 1 teaspoon of Ground Cumin, one half teaspoon of black pepper and a half teaspoon of Chili Powder.  I can't do anything too spicy, and to me, this was spicy.  Doug made corn muffins.  I made pasta and put the chili over it and then topped with sharp cheddar cheese.

I took the photo, below, earlier in the day.

Later in the day, the lovely blue of a snowy winter's evening.

How did you stay warm and cozy today?

Beautiful snow pictures Cheryl! We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of around 8 to 10 inches of snow. We are currently under a Winter Snow Warning. Not sure if the kids will have school tomorrow or not. Right now it looks like they will have school! lol At least they will go to bed on time because it hasn't started snowing yet! hehehe

Merry Christmas!

Loved all the pretty snow pictures and your dinner looked delish! We had a big breakfast and early dinner too, went out about 3 and ate at a favorite mexican restaurant. Then home and I have been on the sofa under a warm throw doing NOTHING! That's my favorite thing to do on a cold day! We didn't get any measurable snow but I know we won't be so lucky next time. Have a great week and stay warm!

That chili just warms up the whole day. I am going to try your recipe. And the snow is beautiful - especially in Indiana. We had snow flurries.

Love,
sandie

The view from your window.... just wow! I've never seen snow (I live in Australia) but just imagining 'seeing' that, is hard for me and yet its a sight you would probably be used to now!
I don't like the cold though... I'd have to have that view along with a fire. That would be great!
