To my "home church" for Mother's day.

I called her yesterday. We chatted, I inquired about this and that. At the conclusion of the conversation I said
"I'll call you tomorrow."
I now live two hours from where I was born and raised. Arising very early, Chelsea and I headed back home. Back to my home church - to surprise my mother for Mothers Day.Mother and my younger sister, Jan.
During the service, I sat, staring at this. I thought about all of the times that I doodled or wrote notes to someone on the back of the offering envelope. Even after I had children, I would draw pictures for them on the back of these to entertain them. I attended this church for fifteen years, from ages 15 to 30. I was married in this church, my children were dedicated in this church, and this is where my membership will remain until the day I die.
At one point the minister said
"If you are a visitor...and I turned to mother and said "I'm not a visitor, I'm a member." I sat looking at these azure windows. This is how they look during the day with sunlight behind them. At night, they are a deep midnight blue. I have spent a lot of time looking at these windows as I sat listening to the sermon. Remember these?
Me, Mother, my sister, Jan.
Me, Jan, Mother,and Dad.

I don't get back to my home church very often any more. I am always happy to see old friends who still attend there. There are always lots of hugs and I never get to visit with everyone that I want to. Next time!
